Atletico Madrid forward couple leads Argentina's Olympic group

Two of Diego Simeone's rising stars and one of his kids will direct Argentina at the Olympics this mid year.

Argentina, in the midst of league turmoil that has included Lionel Messi resigning and Gerardo Martino leaving as chief, named its 18-player squad that will contend in Rio, suppress reports that the country would haul out of the opposition.

Blessed messenger Correa and Luciano Vietto, Atletico Madrid's 21-and 22-year-old advances, and Giovanni Simeone, River Plate's 19-year-old striker, were among the players chose by new U-23 chief Julio Olarticoechea, who has ventured in for Martino, the underlying administrator of the Olympic squad.

Victor Cuesta, who was on Argentina's Copa America runner-up squad, and Real Sociedad goalkeeper Geronimo Rulli were the main overage players chose by Argentina.


Paulo Dybala, Juventus' 22-year-old star forward, and Mauro Icardi, the 23-year-old Inter Milan striker, were precluded. Both were on the 35-man preparatory list.
